The Golden Cord

~*~ Karen Taylor-Good ~ Angels In Disguise ~*~

He sat with a chosen angel
ďIíve a special task just for you,
It will mean leaving for awhile,
But I know this task you can do.

Iíve a special charge for your heart,
Who'll need always your love and care.
At first on earth you will help him
So he grows strong and wise and fair.

Teach him the path that will bring him
One day back to heaven above,
And be there to safely guide him
With the gentle touch of a dove.

One day when he can stand alone,
Tall and filled with your guiding love,
You may then return here to me
To watch over him from above.'

The angel paused looking puzzled,
'If I leave what becomes of him?
He, you said, will always need me?
Do his days become lost and dim?'

The Lord smiled to reassure her,
'No, I would never let that be.
Where ever we are, love finds us,
Your love will connect you and he.

Love's the golden cord, ever there
And it connects you heart to heart,
Developed and strengthened on earth
Even when you seem far apart.

When you return here to heaven
That golden cord will still hold true.
You will never be gone from him
While you love him and he loves you.'
