THE PROMISE OF A SMILE

Across her face breached a thin line of a happy smile.
What thought dwelt deep within was not yet to be disclosed.
Perhaps a bit of love would persuade her to expose
the beauty of her inner self still clothed in deep thought.

What is more lovely than a long-awaited surprise?
We never know when or if it will ever arrive.

I'll return her lovely smile with admiration.
How then will she resist my candid invitation?
She will surely heighten my felicity.
A tender thank you I'll offer in humility.
