Easter, Really
What Easter really, and what promise then?
From God who walked along the paths of men
And showed he understands the human lot
To live and die and feel man is forgot
(Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?)
Again, again, again.

That man may rise from death, and though he sin
A sacrifice atoned - one past his ken,
And life may hold us, death at last cannot?
What Easter really.

And someday, (we're not given to know when)
all dead shall rise, lost family and friends
and each review the life that he has wrought
and see it all so different than he thought.
The world no more shall be as it has been.
What Easter Really.
