My Sweetheart and My Friend

Traveling on down the highway, noticing a boxcar diner
a bit of nostagia, I thought, I'd give it a shot, why not?
The food on the menu 'awesome', couldn't be finer
even that gal in her waitress uniform was hot, hot, hot!

Headin' back to my hometown, just out of curiosity
of my past, a door never closed, supposedly still open
Had too many years gone by to yet salvage from me
who I was before? Oh, if only, that's what I'm hopin'!

From the tabletop juke box, an old song, it was playing
and memories revealed themselves as she'd walked in
Nothing short of a miracle, listen to what I am saying
in the doorway stood my sweetheart and my friend!
