Dreams

Memories of a story told from a story book
With pages that are worn and frayed
Good night prayers faithfully said aloud
Every night with bowed head they were prayed
Dreams of being a princess in a castle made of crystal
For this is how the story was portrayed

Waiting for a world that has danced before your eyes
Wishing for a life that has slowly passed you by
Broken wings that have never known what it is to fly
Believing that a Knight in shining armor will one day arrive.

You can hear the thunder as it disciplines the angry sky
Demanding that room be made for the storm that's on the rise
Lightning strikes, yet it remains calm in the storm's seeing eye
Creating a safe place for the fallen angels to be allowed to cry
While in the distance a child smiles and waves Good-bye.
