Lovers We'll Stay!

There was to be a big wedding
Deep in my heart, I'd been fretting
In shadows, I was lingering
Bells were ringing! Bells were ringing!

Was too late proposing to you
For the chances I had were few
There was nothing much I could do
I was so blue! I was so blue!

There you were with that gorgeous smile
In your dress, Victorian style
Your dad had walked you down the aisle
Seemed like a mile! Seemed like a mile!

I didn't mean for you to see me
Yet, perhaps, it was meant to be
Such relief on your face, I'd see
Oh my beauty! Oh my beauty!

You ran over and took my hand
Ne'er before had I felt so grand
'Twas almost as if it was planned
I was your man! I was your man!

Your ex-groom had tears in his eyes
And the guests, they looked so surprised
Proposing before my chance dies
I'd thought it wise! I'd thought it wise!

We ran out of the church that day
Never looking back, we have stayed!
You'd half-turned and threw your bouquet
To your bridesmaid! To your bridesmaid!

Into the sunset we'd ridden
Got married and had some children
Came to be a baker's dozen
Thirteen of 'em! Thirteen of 'em!

How we loved to roll in the hay
We always kissed and hugged and played
Even now that we're old and gray
Lovers we'll stay! Lovers we'll stay!
