A rolling cloud of blackness now does fade to gray.
Scenes and actors in this frame are of another day.
I know it's simply r.e.m. the flashing in my mind.
But having to recall those days is truly so unkind.

I see old friends old buddies, were just kids at best.
Playing being soldiers, here in the Nam laid to rest.
The slow subtle interjection, belied the coming storm.
Not foreseen in 64 the thousands that would mourn.

On the white horse did ride conquest, told was not our goal.
Then rode war upon a red horse, stoked the fire in our soul.
Famine on his black horse, was starvation of moral thought.
Then death upon a pale horse, is what this plan has brought.

You may ponder 'just for the love of it' and truly you are right.
If only memories like this could be ingested by an athrocyte.
They no longer come just at nighttime, but they come daytime too.
In hope that they will fade, just for the love of it, I share with you.
