Get Rid Of The Advertisements

childhood follies

How i loved the games we played, and all the chalking of the sidewalks we did
We had the front of our house, sidewalks covered as well as kids.

colored shirts and skirts and pants, mom washed so nice, now dusty white.
blues, and reds, purples and blues, covered now, while playing outside.

hide and seek, behind the house, crawling around, through the dirt
running through branches, bushes and flowers,
climbing trees, looking down from our tower.
watching, as we blended in the leaves, so we couldn't be seen.

Birds keeping a watch, as we snuggled in branches
hoping they wouldn't give away our hiding place.
that we felt kept us safe.

quiet as a mouse, we tried not to laugh
as sister Sue passed beneath us, now feeling
we were in the clear.

Then a hawk, screeches above us
leaves are falling down to the ground.
feathers flying as birds are disrupted

hiding in tree, wasn't such a good idea.
