Get Rid Of The Advertisements

Audible Joy

Listen!
Rustle of leaves in the tree overhead
as the breeze flits by.
Grass parrots chattering.
Bees hum and a pesky fly right by my ear
lets me know he's around.
Sweet trill from Willy Wagtail.
Voices...children calling and laughing
in their games
and 'Howzat!' from boys playing cricket.
A passing car
and the distant yap of a dog.
Pounding hoof-beats
herald horse and rider approaching.
Footsteps along the concrete pathway.
Protesting screams of metal on metal
as yet another coal train passes Eastward.
Millions of people in this wonderful world
miss all of these pleasures
due to the loss of that sense
we take for granted.
Half the time we don't even bother
to
listen!
