Caleb and Rachel

Caleb and Rachel

She finds the letter in her drawer
Of remembrances and tears fill her
Eyes. It was a simple 'thank you'

Note from two children who crossed
Her path while her children were in
School together with them. It said simply,

'Thank you for the time you spent helping us
With our reading and spelling, Miss Myrna
We will never forget you and

What you have done for us.' She wpes
The tears flowing down her cheeks for
Even after all these years, their words

Touch her so deeply. The note is signed
By Caleb and Rachel and below their names
Is a heart with 'Thank You' written

In the middle. Caleb and Rachel, adults now,
But she remembers them as two precious
Children who needed that little extra help

With words. She sees them occasionaly
And is so proud of their accomplishments
In both their lives and careers...but always

She will remember their smiles when
A big YES was written at the top
Of their work and she remembers

Too the smile on their teacher's face
As she congratulated them both for
Their great work and the effort

To achieve. Yes, she remembers and she
Knows that they do as well for they
Tell her so each time she sees

Them... and she is so proud, but not of herself,
But of two children who defied the
Odds and became teachers themselves.
