Get Rid Of The Advertisements

REMEMBERING CHILDHOOD FRIENDSHIP

We met at the early age of four.
Our parents sang in a gospel quartet
Called ''The Gospel Harmony.''
They were good...REALLY GOOD!

They sang onstage with the big names like
'''The Statesman''' and '''The Blackwood Brothers.'''
The all night singins' were the place we found love...
Hearing words of praise and adoration for our Lord.

We went to the same church and fell in love
With the Christ Jesus at an early age.
One of us ''swam'' in the baptistry
After being baptized and brought the solemn
Sunday morning crowd to upheaval and laughter!

We spent the night at each others
House most every weekend.
One of us got ''homesick'' and our parents
Had to come rescue us for the weekend.

We loved to play hide and seek
And hid in THE most obvious places
So we were sure to be found quickly.
We skipped rope, rode bikes and roller skated
Down our tiny, dirt vehicle-free road.

We made Hawaiian skirts out of newspaper,
Gave the little sister fits being our baby as we
Dressed her in outlandish outfits and '''styled'''
Her wispy little two-year-old locks.

We shared our first piece of pizza EVER and
One of us remarked that it looked like it had
Already been eaten...the melted cheese mixed
With tomato sauce WAS a strange sight when
Seeing it for the very first time!

We shared teenage secrets about that first love,
First kiss and all the new feelings that were
Taking place in our hearts, minds and bodies.

SO many years have passed.....
I scarce can believe just how many.
And you know the best part about that?
We STILL remain best buddies today
And will throughout all eternity!
~~

Dedicated with MUCH love to my bestest buddy
Carolyn Sue Bowen Martin!!!
