Only a Candle

REPUTATION, tenuous and fragile,
IS subject to the whims of human thought,
ONLY bolstered by imaginations agile...
A pity that such trauma has been wrought.
CANDLE Of Life with Moody Blues plays gentle.
OF what is pain comprised if not despair,
WAVERING 'midst small wounds incremental
AND needing deep inside one soul to share.
UNCERTAIN of the trust one has invested,
FLAME burneth feebly, gutters then to die,
AND though the charge may well have been contested,
EASILY disproved...always the alibi.
BLOWN by gusts of malice most persistent,
OUT then blows hope so weak and unresistant.
