Unexpected colors make their debut
Shimmers of gold appear atop the trees
A portrait painted as if by imagination’s hue
Splatters of autumn beauty on canvas tease
Its magical spell decorating the world anew
Enchanting us ever closer toward first freeze
Mesmerized by crimson and gold against blue
Lulled by the leaves dancing upon the breeze
Gratefully accepting autumn’s colorful debut
Change gracefully filling heart and soul with ease
Until, at last, we too must celebrate summer’s adieu
