Frost's Inspiration

I was told once, by a wise and ancient dame,
'HAVE a care maid, for some will steer you wrong.
PROMISES they'll lavish, to their shame.
TO discern the difference shall make you strong.
KEEP your eyes upon the prixe, modest remain,
AND be an advocate to those in need;
MILES of ink is spilled with precious little gain.
TO bare my heart, scratch me and I will bleed.
GO seek the author of all inspiration
BEFORE the ink dries on the poet's page.
I counsel thus, hold not to trepidation.
SLEEP in innocence and let no fears assuage.'
