Get Rid Of The Advertisements

Diamond In The Rough

Just twenty five cents
Marked down from two ninety eight.
A potential found treasure.
A diamond in the rough, how great.

Some laughed at my purchase,
Their jeering remarks, I thought unkind.
For deep down in my heart I knew.
I'd discovered quite a find.

It was a tattered old hat
Priced right for a rummage sale.
Just an old straw bonnet
That looked dingy and pale.

A broken-down used-up chapeau
Frayed at the brim, looking sad.
Oh, but you just can't imagine
The plans that I had.

I tackled the task with scissors and glue.
Then colored it pale lavender.
With the addition of pastel blossoms,
I now had a masterpiece, for sure.

With my best lavender dress,
What a lovely statement it made.
That old worn-out, cast aside bonnet.
Perfect for the Easter Parade...
