IF I COULD CHOOSE

I shudder to think what the world would be,
Without written lines of poetry.
Those words and their thoughts gracing all our days,
Written by friends passing by our way.

The words which are messengers from the heart,
Mend broken fences with love to start.
Keeping some secrets...lest others to harm,
Sharing some others with child-like charm.

If I could choose only one thing to keep,
I'd hold each word that could make me weep.
For in them I know there's a beating heart,
That chose to be open right from the start.
