'For I know the plans I have for you...'
I'm certain I would have loved to have grown up on a farm
Where, although work may be difficult, even tedious
In my way, I'd wrap myself up in beautiful pastoral charm
Like fields of wheat golden patchwork view, almost seamless,
Where the kind, so polite tip of the hat from a neighbor secluded
May wave from a distance and still willing to offer care
And yet to keep busy in the garden if crows intruded
Tend, just as many faithful do kneeling in fervent prayer.
I think you can picture this... an entire family sharing, all give
Work combined and family blending together at suppertime
To see every generation raised by standards we all could live
For in clean air, this must be like a good cluster-rhyme...
I look to bright afternoon delights or even if sad, what life may bring
To be filled to the brim with poetry and time on my hands
Perhaps finding a lost mitten when cold, keeping each other warm
In this vast countryside of heart, that truly understands.
