Bones of Belief

His bones of belief
are brittle and fragile,
they crack with every thought that spins,
the cold wind comes and blows
and deeper they decline
in integrity and strength.

He fails again in the preservation
of a constant worldview,
of what is special and real,
magical and purposeful,
he falls to a thinness,
a desperate bitterness
where bones of belief
break with ease.

He collects within himself
the saving and powerful grace of defeat,
a place with one true and perfect purpose
where there is nothing left to do
but kneel and fall face to the ground,
to be swallowed by its complete emptiness
in the hope one day
of a rebirth.
