As A Little Child

Aged nine I learned Christ bought my salvation,
for me He died upon that awful cross.
Love filled this heart with joy and great elation,
a knowledge sweet o'ercame the dreadful loss.

How can a little child gain understanding
of such a gift on which her life to build.
With eyes upon the prize, His Word commanding
and oh, with steadfast love this child was filled.

Such trials I've known but never once forsaken...
in joy, in pain, in gratitude, in sorrow.
Now near the end, convinced I'm not mistaken,
I'll gladly join Him in the dawning 'morrow.
