My Mind

You only have it once to keep, this integrity that's yours.
You may have high principles, sacrifice them for a cause.
Your words, deeds, not peerless, others certainly judge.
This you must afford them, a right you can't begrudge.

The vow you make unto yourself, to be pure in mind and heart.
This is the vow at all cost keep, from it never ever part.
To this end I tell you friend, of the words I've left behind.
It's not cavalier, it's rather very dear, it's how I keep my mind.
