Enjoying Your Winter

In the grip of glaring summer
deep amidst a heat-wave's fever,
sure can test the grit and courage
of the most stalwart believer.

Perhaps then I'm a voyeur
taking hedonistic pleasure
in those chilly winter landscapes
Northern poets write at leisure.

My doors and windows all closed tight,
the rooms as dark as dark can be,
no air-con, just a troop of fans,
wet t-shirt, no one here to see.

Thoughts go tripping gaily your way.
I'm cooled by imagination.
Here I'm remaining day by day,
my private form of hibernation.
