A Little Pasted Valentine

****
Hearts and flowers pasted on
A weathered Valentine.
I found it deep down in a trunk
Yellowed with time.

Crayola red for the hearts,
Cut with childish hand.
Daisies white, their big bright eyes
Still looking grand.

My heart leapt in my chest,
Then I remembered how I'd signed.
I printed, Mama you're the best.
Be my Valentine.

Through burning tears I remembered
Cutting and pasting, in a long ago time
Those Crayola hearts and flowers
For Mama's pretty pasted Valentine.

My valentine for Jim...
