I See a Bird in a Tree

I see a bird in a tree
When it calls out I imagine the little beak opens just for me.
It's giving me a warning or teaching me a fact
There's plenty of food around and it's singing to lose some fat.

Trying for a potential mate or even a far away friend,
Feel sorry for the rest of us wondering when the screeching ends.

Myself and the cat we sit right back listening to it all
knowing that nothing lasts forever and one day our friend shall fall.

It's not that we want it to, for like us it tries real hard
and when that time has come about we'll both be sitting sad.
