EVERY WORD

EVERY WORD

In the glittering dust of memories
Time has demanded its cost
Alone in the barren fields of yesterday
I hear the echo of whispers lost

I hold back the tears
Or at least I try
But tears will have the final say
As they fall in reminiscent display

I shall seal the tears
In my book of memories
Of today and the past
As they prepare me
For the future that life for me has cast.

The last tear falls
And my heart is stirred
As I remember every whisper
My memories have heard

Submitted into the Simplicity challenge
Host: myself Myrna D
Phrase: in my book of memories
