Adrift

Adrift

Almost immediately
I sense its presence
As it creeps in
A gloomy darkness
Feeding off your happiness

It lingers between us
In the pauses its existence
Diluting our moments
Fraying our connection
Til wete adrift in the murkiness

An all consuming sadness
Propels you into the distance
Giving you that faraway voice
Without joy or interest
How I miss your laughter and liveliness

Ill shine the light for you
Fighting with fierce persistence
Reminding you of its exquisiteness
My aching heart lovingly urging
Your eminent return to happiness
