Aiming

When I was three, nightmares began occurring,
black duck attack, to fragile mind, anxieties a-stirring.

And then, aged nine, so blessed to meet the Lord,
employed His strength 'gainst ducks, as a great sword.

Freedom is mine with heart and hope to share,
encouragement to those who know despair.

When I was sixteen, alcohol the thief,
the driver drunk, my sister's life but brief.

Aged thirty five, the crash victim was me;
thirty eight years more with disability.

And thus my path was pointed out to be
helping the lost to gain sobriety.

The way is hard with obstacles galore,
aiming to be like Him...each day some more.
