Get Rid Of The Advertisements

Dear Miss Bailey
I'd waited so eagerly
To meet you face to face.
We were to share our poetry
Here in this special place.
You had another booking
And you just couldn't wait,
A much greater rendezvous
At Heaven's golden gate.
You've joined the Heavenly choir.
With your dusky-velvet tones.
Where Angels sing in harmony
In your new celestial home.

A tribute to the late Pearl Bailey
who passed away in 1989
just before I was to meet her
at the poetry convention in Las Vegas
I wrote this back then.
