Stories Told

New stories told are all to often, the same as the old we knew.
I can remember stories that may date my age, it's true.
Yet I still enjoy new stories, they remind me of how I grew.
I remember how they are so familiar, to old stories I once knew.

When I was a child I loved to hear, old stories from my dad.
Of how times were hard and sometimes he felt sad.
Still he always managed to give me hope, that the future's not so bad.
The trick he said was in remembering, that he was thankful for all he had.

This is a story I pray my children will somehow learn.
That given time your peace of mind, is worth more than you could ever earn.
So remember all the stories this life will let you learn.
Then pass them on to others, so they can always be heard.
