Get Rid Of The Advertisements

In Memory of My Brother

This one is a whole lot hard for me,
Because I lost my best friend you see.
Friends since we were in school,
We both knew the value of the golden rule.

My junior year in high school is when we met,
I shared my bus seat with the kid I hadn’t met yet.
He had my laughing before we’d gone a mile,
With his teasing, antics, and wide, broad smile.

He was always a big kid, so he got teased,
I’d talk him through things to put his mind at ease.
I got bullied and thought no one cared,
He talked to me about that being something we shared.

We had so much in common, we were together often,
Joined at the hip it seems, days I haven’t forgotten.
He left me in 2014 and someday’s it feels as though a dream.
Others, I miss him so much I could scream.

When we got together yesterday,
It was at the church he served in last.
Memories like these today,
Make my tears come hard and fast.

I will always remember my gentle, giant friend.
To soon called home, a new life to begin.
I am reminded of times like this of no other,
More than my friend he was my brother.
