My Summer Place
As I walk through the fields in June at my summer place |
I’m pleased to see that God has done his part,
For, there are so many beautiful flowers growing here
That, seeing them in all their glory, does truly fill my heart.
I note the various types of floral beauty…
As there are so many colors to see and scents to fill the air,
Like the pale blue of the Star of Bethlehem
Dancing at the feet of a mighty oak that is standing there.
I am awed at the pink Crape Myrtle with its crinkly blooms
And the wild Daylilies with so many vibrant colors to see,
While the Zinnias and the Sweet Pea are looking their prettiest
The Marigold and Black Eyed Susan are being visited...
By a couple of bumble bee.
My favorite flower is a rose bush by the sanctuary wall
Laden with amber gold roses called amber flush,
The scent they give off is heavenly
While their petals look so soft and lush.
I happen upon a grouping of Peruvian Lilies
With their breathtaking color of deep pink on my way home,
And along the fence I spot some red Prince’s Feather
Standing tall and majestic next to some lacy white anemone.
As I walk along this path toward my Summer place on the hill
I feel such a peace come over me that I know I am not alone,
I can sense the Lord walking beside me as I am thanking Him
For these fields of floral beauty that adorn my humble home.
