REFLECTING BACK

Quietly as I reflect
“Thinking hard to how it was in the past”
When summers seemed so long and carefree
Winter’s chill brought its own magic
Family closeness, fun and laughter
But that was happy childhood days
Reality hit me that sad sad day
The magic faded leaving only heartache
Loss touched me for the first time
God had suddenly called Home my wonderful Dad
Life was never quite the same again
That was long ago and there have been many losses since then
Each one stealing another piece of my heart
My Husband was my rock always there to comfort me
Gently holding me as the tears flowed
But he was not there to hold me
When I felt the hardest loss of all
I was left alone with an aching sadness
It was the day that God called him Home too
But as I sit here now, fighting the tears
I am “Thinking hard to how it was in the past”
And give thanks and smile

For Deeny 107’s “Thinking hard --------------------in the past challenge
The words I used were “Thinking hard TO HOW IT WAS in the past”
to how it was
