What We Prayed For All Along

I can see the sorrow that is hidden behind your smile
I can see that your laughter is flowing with tears
I know that your heart is broken to pieces
For when we wed ,we planned on many happy years

I wish you could see how well I am doing
My body is whole, all the pain is gone
No more sleepless nights, no more chemotherapy
Isn't that what we prayed for all along?

I 'm watching you, waiting for the day your smile returns
I know it will, because the Lord promised me so
That one day our memories will outweigh your grief
You will smile again like you did so long ago
