Sweet Humming Birds

Sweet Hummingbirds

Oh how I love to watch you
In dawns early first light
Hovering around the feeder
Ready to take quick flight.

Wings fluttering so rapid
Looking around for prey
Ready to drink your sugar water
Then run off to play.

The beautiful green
Of feathers on your back
Marks you as a male
That will surely come back.

So brave a tiny creature
To come and have your fill
The closer you come to me
The more exciting thrill.

Oh I've seen about four of you
Which tells me I'm feeding a family
So happy to see you come around
You seem so carefree.

Yet you flutter so quickly away
Afraid to stay
And I am amazed
That you grace me this way.

God put you in our sight
To watch and enjoy his nature
A blessing to treasure
You bring so much pleasure.

I'll keep watching for you all
To flutter by my way
And now I know what its like
To watch a himmingbird at play.
