Without Love

O My heart, why?
Why wouldn’t you be more patient?
You wish for the unwishable,
Love is a wistful illusion,
An elusive maiden...

Who has ever restrained the free-spirited wind,
Who has ever ensnared the sunshine,
Who has ever reined in the waves of the sea,
Who has ever tethered the vibrancy of colors,
Who has ever entrapped the beauty?

Forbear my heart,
Know you not
Love is fraught with despair and isolation,
Why then do you aspire in vain?
