Autumn Whispered

Autumn whispered farewell to me
With a rose petal sigh.
She knows me very well.
I will not say goodbye.

She brought her best to me,
Dressing trees in my yard.
Reds and gold's and tangerine.
Those lovely leaves to discard.

A sadness wells up in my heart,
Still a farewell is not forever.
Winter toils behind the scenes,
An icy cold endeavor.

Rejoice, for spring will come,
A new season to befriend.
Bringing new-born beauty
To fill my heart again.

Summer glides softly 'ore the hills,
Filling gardens to capacity.
Unveiling full-blown roses.
Adding the thorns sparingly.

When summer takes to travelling,
That lovely season comes to an end.
Autumn whispers again to me.
Of summer's roses she must tend.
