Ignorance At What Price

My best friend called me this morning
Concerned about her ten year old daughter.
It seems she has started wetting her bed,
She's been seen by three different doctors.
None of them found anything wrong.
They all said, 'It's just a phase,
She's probably doing it for attention.
Ignore it, it will go away.'
As she was sharing her thoughts with me,
Alarms started going off in my head.
Why on earth would a ten year old girl
Choose to start wetting her bed?
I told her it didn't make sence to me,
To go and take her daughter by the hand,
Ask her what's troubling her so,
Let her know, no matter what, you'll understand.
She took her daughter out to lunch this afternoon,
The poor thing broke down in tears.
She said, 'Mommy, I just couldn't tell you
Daddy's been sleeping with me for the last two years.
I wanted to tell you many times
But Daddy always said not to.
Lately, he's been scaring me really bad
I didn't know what to do.'
My friend called again a few minutes ago.
Her daughter is tucked safely in bed.
'Daddy' has been carted off somewhere.
Soon, he's probably going to wish he was dead.
For the first time in two long years,
A little girl is sleeping without a light on.
I pray that God will wrap her in his arms
And cradle her all night long,
Bringing some light to her dark soul,
Giving her strength for what lies ahead.
'Ignore it, it will go away,'
Isn't that what the doctors said?......
