THANK YOU KAHLIL

Remember years ago when I introduced you
to old Kahlil Gibran?
His words still ring true.

“Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together yet not to near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
and the oak tree and the cypress
grow not in each other’s shadow”.

Thank you Kahlil for sharing your wisdom.

*

I send you, warm drinks from my chalice,
laced with prayer that will forever reminded
and seal your heart with memories of
sunset evenings at home, lest they forever fade.

Remember my sunset paintings,
for they are more than manipulated pigment,
they are my life.

Remember my feeble attempts at poetry,
for they are more than manipulated word,
they also are my life.

But above all,
Forgive me my shortcomings.
