HANDSOME STEED

I had a hunch about the horse
While on hiatus....no set course
This handsome steed of habitude
Had spirit, fire and attitude

As storm clouds gathered through the haze
I saw him bending low to graze
'Twas almost like an herbal brew
A holiday from mortal's due

At once Chinook winds, rain and hail
Began to leave a muddied trail
The stallion reared to meet his match
As workers battened down the hatch

In witness of his strength and speed
With grace and beauty like a creed
A whisper from the lips of man
Released my soul and helped me stand
