Gone to War

Hugs and Kisses as you say goodbye
You ask god why o why
Tears form in your eyes
You hold them back, you do not cry
As you sit there all alone

Wondering if he'll be okay
You run to the mailbox everyday
Waiting for his letters
saying how he's better
Holding you close and never letting go

Five months now you lie in bed
Knowing that your husband's dead
Your mind is empty, yet full of thought
of the man who went and fought
Just thinking of what to say
On the very faithful day
when the doctors ask who the father is
as they bring in your baby girl, Liz

As of now in bed you lie
Imagining how your husband died
Mixed emotions fill your head
Now that you know your husbands dead.
