My Daughter, A Mother

The beautiful gift of a daughter
Was my life’s most precious gift
Seeing you grow over the years
My heart did get a lift

Your natural outer beauty
Was a blessing to behold
But it is the inner beauty
That asks for this story to be told

You have not had it easy
A measure of heartbreak you did share
But you remained strong and proud
And with faith your heart did repair

Watching you become a mother
No words can explain this feeling
My daughter, a mother to look up to
A heart so full of loving

Happy Mother’s Day dear daughter
I want to tell you true
How much you really mean to me
And how much I do love you

(This poem I wrote for my sister Beverly
to give to her daughter Jodie)
