The longest walk
The lonely road of friendship
can only lead to one simple conclusion:
the more that I do for you,
the more that you turn away from me.
Truths about us left untold
to no one else have I whispered a word,
but perhaps I was foolish in assuming
that your trust would win this battle.
Comforting you was my only job
and before I took it so seriously
but now whenever I hang up the phone,
these feelings of hate choke me inside.
A one sided friendship will always die
it is something that will occur over time
and as the summer days pass between us,
I think winter is going to come sooner this year.
Because the chill in your voice is undeniable
and the pain in my heart in inconcievable,
so now I walk to the lonely road of friendship,
and this time I walk it alone.
