The Walls

The walls were there
Snugly in place
No cracks or holes
No light shining through
Standing in place
For many a year
No force in the world
Had ever brought them down

The walls were there
Protecting my world
Sheltering my emotions
Saving my heart
They worked very well
Kept my life sane
Removed all the dangers
Averting all the pain

The walls were there
But where are they now
When did they fall
How did they fail
How did you slip in
Around and through
Shattering my defenses
Altering my world

The walls were there
You took them away
You brought back the smile
Along with the laughs
You made a hole
Then walked your way through
The walls were there
But now I have you
