A Hero Always
A little boy, and a dog.
Playing side by side.
The little boy began to run
His puppy not far behind.
The driver; drunk, the car was speeding.
As the boy stepped in the road.
The dog could sense his owners peril
As the car; toward him; spiraled.
He sprinted forth just in time to push the Master forward.
“A narrow miss” the driver said
As the boy picked up his fallen friend
Crying eyes welled up in me as I watched him with my son
The little boy to His friend owed a Hero’s Honor.
The ground was cold the snow not gone
As the boy started digging his Hero’s Tomb.
He dug for hours into the night
It was his Friend , he had to bury him right.
My wife made soup to warm his hands
As I watched my Son bury his Friend.
To this day he makes me proud
As I think back to the Day our dog walked in the Clouds
A hero always as well as a Friend
He gave his life so Todd could live to be a man.
